The Coherent Curriculum:

Connecting and Integrating Learning

The brain learns by making connections and creating neural networks of efficiency and ease. By creating curricula that has explicit connections, the learning becomes more evident, more relevant and more useful to students beyond the walls of the classroomę

Why do kids like themes? They like themes because they can see how learning across the disciplines is connected. They have easy access to connection making in their minds as they make meaning of the information.

If, all learning is for transfer into life, somehow, somewhere, then it behooves us, as educators, to make that learning as connected and as coherent as possible.

In this talk, we examine the winds of change that dictate a more coherent curriculum.
