Ivette is an award-winning educator in teacher training, mentoring and coaching. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Puerto Rico, and her Masters in Communications and Theater from the University of Illinois at Chicago. As an area bilingual instructional coach for Chicago Public Schools, she has extensive experience in teaching methodologies, best practices, gifted education, ESL, sheltered instruction and assessment. She has been instrumental in school-wide implementation of the Three-Story Intellect Model, with dramatic results.
In publishing, Ivette has been translator of educational videos and books, and editor of bilingual publications. She was editor of the Weekly Reader’s bilingual series and co-authored the Chicago Public Schools’ Dual Language Immersion Program Models and Scientific Literacy Handbook.
She is a producer and writer for television and was nominated for an EMMY Award for the television special, “Not in My School.” Ivette has presented at educational conferences on bilingual education, multi-cultural education, and data analysis for ELLs. Currently, Ivette is the Chicago Education Director for Success for Kids, a social and emotional learning program.
Her hands-on, interactive approach is compelling for the teachers in her workshops.
